Runnels students will be
prepared for the technological world of the twenty-first
century. Exposure to age-appropriate uses of computers and
technology begins in the preschool years and then accelerates
constantly through the elementary, junior high, and high
school division - under the direction of the school Technology
Coordinator.
The entire Harrell's Ferry campus is networked with fiber
optics, and high-speed internet access is available almost
everywhere. Elementary students have their own specially
equipped and staffed computer lab, visited regularly by
the students and their teachers. Junior High and High School
students are served by four separate computer labs, and
most individual classrooms have broad-band internet access
capability - with either wired or wireless networking, or
both.
Students and staff participate in "Louisiana Virtual
School," whereby for-credit online coursework greatly
increases scheduling flexibility and choice of courses available.
Runnels participates in the Automated Weather Service (AWS),
a network of schools and other facilities that possess self-contained
weather stations connected in real time to each other and
to the media.
