The Elementary Librarian is assisted
by a volunteer group of parents called "Bookends".
This group reads selected books to the students and assists
with Accelerated Reader Quizzes. They may also shelve returned
books, repair books, and help the librarian with book fairs
and other special fundraising events throughout the year
to expand the library's holdings. "Bookends" is
a special committee of the R.P.O. (Runnels
Parents Organization) Any parent is welcome to join!
Contact the "Bookends" coordinator (RunnelsBookends@Yahoo.com)
if you would like to volunteer.

2008-2009 Library Bookend Information
Participating in Bookends is a wonderful opportunity to
help your child's reading class. Your child visits the library
with his/her reading class on the same day each week (see
schedule here).
The responsibility of a Bookend volunteer can include: reading
a pre-selected book to the class, assisting with Accelerated
Reader quizzes when necessary, helping check-in/check-out
books, and re-shelving books returned from the class on
that day.
If you are unable to assist in the library during your child's
class period, you may be able to assist with our Book Fair.
This year's Book Fair will begin with preview day November
13 and shopping days November 13 - 21st, 2008. Click
here to view the 2008 Book Fair Poster and Bookmark Contest
rules.
The Bookend Application is available
here in .pdf format. If you do not have Acrobat Reader
on your computer you can download it at the link to the

to purchase a book for the library of your choice. A bookplate
will be made and placed in the newly acquired book to announce
your participation in the Celebration Book Club. Form available
here.
