Summer
Reading
Students in grades 4 through 6 are given summer reading lists
at the end of the previous school year. New students are given
the reading list when they sign up for school. When students
return to school in August, they are required to take and
pass an accelerated reading test on the book(s) read. Sign
up sheets are in their reading classroom. Students will be
called to the library to take the test. The test (5-20 questions)
is administered on the computer. Accelerated Reader test results
are reported to the reading teacher on a weekly basis. Each
student will receive a grade for the summer reading requirements.
No additional Accelerated Reading tests will be given to students
until all their summer reading testing is completed.
Monthly Book Reports
Runnels Elementary School students in grades 3-6 are required
to prepare a monthly book report. Book reports may be oral,
written, or project oriented at the discretion of the reading
teacher. |
