Runnels School
Math Facts Program
One of those skills that we as math
teachers know is critical is the quick recall of basic addition,
subtraction, multiplication and division facts. Students today
need to know these facts as never before as technology becomes
an integral part of our lives. Estimation of reasonable answers
is facilitated by knowledge of basic facts so that even when
we are using calculators, computers, etc., we can catch our
errors. Without a sound knowledge of multiplication facts,
students will struggle with fractions and algebra.
At school, students in elementary school will have weekly
graded quizzes on these facts. Such quizzes are only a portion
of your child's overall average.
A summary of the basic facts requirements for each grade level
is available.
It is important to note that if your child is working in an
advanced math class, he or she is responsible for the facts
for that advanced grade placement.
Should you need any clarification, or should you have questions,
please feel free to contact us. Leaving a message at school
for us to return your call is usually the best way.
Sincerely,
The Runnels Elementary School Math Teachers
